Why we love it

Ski-in, ski-out at 2,300 m, snow from November to May and the full 3 Vallées on your doorstep. Lively, young and never short of a party.

Getting there

Chambéry is the closest airport, about two hours by road. Geneva and Lyon are both around 2.5 to 3 hours away. By train, take the TGV to Moûtiers and then a bus or taxi for the last 37 km up to the resort, which takes about an hour.

Who it's for

Val Thorens suits every level. Beginners have dedicated learning areas right in the resort, intermediates have huge amounts of wide, open runs, and advanced skiers can explore the high terrain around Cime Caron and Orelle. With the whole 3 Vallées on the lift pass, there's always something new to ski.

Best time to go

At 2,300 m, Val Thorens has some of the most reliable snow in the Alps, from late November to early May. December and January can be very cold and windy, so March and April are often the best time for sunny days with good snow.
