Why we love it
Gateway to the world's largest linked ski area. Immaculate pistes, Michelin stars at altitude and runs from gentle greens to the Saulire couloirs.
Getting there
Chambéry is the closest airport, about 110 km and 1.5 hours by road. Geneva and Lyon are both around 2.5 to 3 hours away. By train, take the TGV to Moûtiers and then a bus or taxi for the last 25 km up to the resort. Courchevel also has its own altiport for private flights.
Who it's for
Courchevel suits everyone. The wide, well-groomed runs above 1850 and 1650 are great for intermediates, there are dedicated beginner areas in each village, and advanced skiers can head for the couloirs off La Saulire. With the whole 3 Vallées on the lift pass, you can ski a different valley every day.
Best time to go
January to March has the best snow. Many of Courchevel's slopes face north, so the snow stays in good shape even in spring. Mid-January and March are quieter and better value than the school holidays in February.
