Why we love it

Olympic host in 1956 and 2026, ringed by pale Dolomite towers. Sunny pistes, long lunches in mountain huts and access to the whole Dolomiti Superski pass.

Getting there

Venice Marco Polo is the closest major airport, about 160 km and two hours by road. Treviso and Innsbruck are around the same distance. Cortina Express and ATVO buses run directly from Venice airport. By train, go to Calalzo di Cadore and take the bus for the last 35 km.

Who it's for

Cortina works for every level. Beginners and families have the gentle slopes of Socrepes and Col Drusciè, intermediates get long, scenic runs across Tofana, Faloria and Cinque Torri, and advanced skiers can tackle the Olympia delle Tofane World Cup piste and the steep Canalone on Cristallo.

Best time to go

January to March is the best time, with good snow and plenty of sunshine. Cortina relies heavily on snowmaking as it gets less natural snow than the northern Alps. February and March are perfect for long lunches on sunny rifugio terraces.
